Fab 4: Textual Nuances

Today we talked about various interpretations on the narrative. The first thing we talked about what was Isaac’s age, and how that would affect the story. If Isaac had been young, the servants might have thought that Abraham was taking his son up to the mountain to teach him how to perform a sacrifice. If he were older, however, the servants may have questioned more about Abraham’s means. In addition, we talked about how Isaac would respond to such a scenario – as readers, we aren’t aware of how Isaac is feeling as he’s being bound. We discussed how he would be feeling – scared, proud, calm, etc.
