Minute Paper 10.29.15

We looked through Genesis itself and analyzed the descriptions of J versus P sources. We worked at splitting up the text between the two sources. We discussed how a lot of us were missing the specific details of the Flood, especially the graphic ones. This is because Noah’s Ark is most often told in a children’s book, or some kind of watered down version. Even in Genesis the only story told is that of Noah and his family. Those who died in the flood are never looked at and analyzed. The story itself is incredibly violent, but it was almost forced onto the Bible because there were so many ancient stories of a flood, and they needed to be explained as God’s actions.
