Patristic Exegesis: Torey, Gardner, & Nick

We began by talking about allegorical interpretations and how they allow for a greater explanation of abstract ideas and vices in the text. We expanded upon this into an analysis of the two pronged approach to interpretation. We also discussed the different reading techniques and the differences in how Christians and Jewish people approach their texts. We concluded by continuing to develop a greater understanding for the difference in literal sense and plain sense. Literal sense is simply what is written by down and what God intended the reader to know. The Plain sense is a more interpretive view point and allows the reader to incorporate their own outside thoughts to what they are reading.
