Abrahams Story

Today in class we discussed how the story of Abraham was flawed. It fails to discuss the development of character in both Abraham and Isaac, regarding them both as mere puppets of God’s will. We also talked about the implications of God’s actions and how whether following the word of God could be considered a sin, because although Abraham did not actually commit murder, he feared thoughts of murder (which is a sin). The trials and tribulations that Abraham undergoes may be representative of the hardships that the people of God were forced to endure during this time period. The story may have been a reflection of how God will fulfill his covenant towards the Jews during times of struggle.
