Secret Revelation of John

The “Secret Revelation of John”, reveals the story of creation before the interpretation of Genesis. The major theme is that the God in Genesis is an evil God named Yaldabaoth, who was birthed from the Aeon of wisdom known as Sophia. After stealing Sophia’s power, he created the universe by the accounts given in Genesis. The difference between the two stories is that in Genesis, he is represented as a just and good God, however, in The Revelation of John, Yaldabaoth is a being who seeks to contaminate humanity. By giving earthly form to our divine spirits, he effectively trapped us in a worldly prison. Also, a major difference is that in the Revelation of John, the Tree of Knowledge is a gift from the higher Gods so that humanity can learn about the Aeons and the flow of life.
