Sarna, Speiser, and Niditch 9/24

Today we discussed some concepts which led into deeper discussion. For instance, the Priestly idea on the equality of man and women and how that idea transforms into the general idea of how they thought men were considered superior. Also, we mentioned the importance of the difference of “In the beginning” and “When God began to create”. Most of our discussion revolved around this because this idea relates to the history of when creation stories were originally written and how a story would have been portrayed in that time period. It is important to note how creation stories were read in their time period and how that can relate to what they mean today.
