Old Testament vs. Hebrew Bible – Elizabeth, Kristi, Mikayla and Kiana

Today, we discussed how the order of the text can play an influential role in creating differences in depth and understanding. For example, the Christian Old Testament was arranged to portray the story of Jesus while the Tanakh was arranged to discuss God’s relationship with Israel (6). The differences in interpretation lead intentionally or unintentionally to different doctrines, for example the growing divide between the Jewish and Christian communities. Relating to the “man is measure” philosophy of Dissoi Logoi, the religious texts can be interpreted for either personal gain or personal use.
