Different interpretations of the Old Testament originate from different sources. Some come from language differences. Sometimes idioms do not work in the language it is translated to. Other interpretations are based on the context of the reader. If the reader is of a different social class, gender or race, he/she will read the Old Testament differently, gaining different insights. This is important for our college education because, when reading a text it is important to base our interpretation of the content; we should base our interpretations based on what is specifically said in the text, not what others have said it is about or is inferred.
