{"id":1366,"date":"2017-01-29T11:57:47","date_gmt":"2017-01-29T16:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/playing-at-leadership\/?p=1366"},"modified":"2017-01-29T11:57:47","modified_gmt":"2017-01-29T16:57:47","slug":"rise-up-day-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/playing-at-leadership\/2017\/01\/29\/rise-up-day-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Rise Up, Day 8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this day and age,<br \/>\nWe must be the exceptional.<br \/>\nTo sit back, to remain<br \/>\nComfortable and safe in our brick houses,<br \/>\nKeeping silent out of fear<br \/>\nOf awkwardness at parties<br \/>\nOr embarrassing ourselves in front of our boss,<br \/>\nClosing the curtains against the maelstrom<br \/>\nOf political rhetoric and posturing,<br \/>\nSuch banal inaction is cowardice,<br \/>\nInhuman and inhumane,<br \/>\nAs families are torn apart,<br \/>\nCareers and lives are ruined,<br \/>\nAnd martyrs for our cause are sent back<br \/>\nTo the oppressive nations they fought to save,<br \/>\nOnly to die.<br \/>\nIn this day and age,<br \/>\nTo be human, we must be heroes,<br \/>\nDefiant of those in power,<br \/>\nRefusing to accept dictates and decrees<br \/>\nAs the laws by which we will live,<br \/>\nBecause others cannot.<br \/>\nHowever slight, we are obligated<br \/>\nBy common humanity<br \/>\nTo resist.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this day and age, We must be the exceptional.
