{"id":25,"date":"2008-08-12T09:06:08","date_gmt":"2008-08-12T14:06:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/physicstrawick\/2008\/08\/12\/so-long-nate\/"},"modified":"2008-08-20T08:52:51","modified_gmt":"2008-08-20T13:52:51","slug":"so-long-nate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/physicstrawick\/2008\/08\/12\/so-long-nate\/","title":{"rendered":"So long, Nate!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This summer Trawick lab bids farewell to Nate Lawrence, who graduated in the spring but stayed on to continue working on his research project over this summer.\u00a0 Nate starts graduate school in electrical engineering at Boston University this fall.<\/p>\n<p>Nate is a great example of a student who took advantage of the opportunity to do research here.\u00a0 He started working with me as a first year student, learning to use the atomic force microscope in our lab.\u00a0 His research continued here over the summers, supported by a summer fellowship from the Virginia Foundation\u00a0for Independent Colleges, and later by\u00a0a\u00a0grant from the Research Corporation.\u00a0 Over the course of four years, he has become a highly skilled researcher and a real expert in the field, and his work was presented at several national physics conferences.\u00a0\u00a0During his four years at UR, Nate spent one summer doing research at Boston University, and also spent a semester abroad in Scotland.\u00a0 He won the Robert Edward Loving Award in Physics for promise for advanced study in physics.<\/p>\n<p>Nate&#8217;s expertise will be sorely missed around here.\u00a0 So long, Nate, and stay in touch!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This summer Trawick lab bids farewell to Nate Lawrence, who graduated in the spring but stayed on to continue working on his research project over this summer.\u00a0 Nate starts graduate school in electrical engineering at Boston University this fall.
