{"id":157,"date":"2009-09-10T10:26:09","date_gmt":"2009-09-10T15:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/physicsbunn\/2009\/09\/10\/bragging\/"},"modified":"2009-09-10T12:03:12","modified_gmt":"2009-09-10T17:03:12","slug":"bragging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/physicsbunn\/2009\/09\/10\/bragging\/","title":{"rendered":"Bragging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My colleague <a href=\"https:\/\/facultystaff.richmond.edu\/~ggilfoyl\/GPGHome.html\">Jerry Gilfoyle<\/a> and I were just awarded an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/awardsearch\/showAward.do?AwardNumber=0922748\">NSF grant<\/a> to buy a new computing cluster.\u00a0 In the past, my students and I have mostly worked on problems that could be attacked with ordinary desktop computers.\u00a0 This grant means that we&#8217;ll be able to go after more computationally intensive problems.\u00a0 It also means I&#8217;ll have to learn about supercomputing techniques.\u00a0 Fortunately, Jerry&#8217;s very experienced at this.<\/p>\n<p>This has been a good funding year for me: I submitted three NSF proposals, and all three were funded.
