Energy utility companies such as Dominion are required by law to complete and pass the application process through FERC in order to proceed with their projects. FERC is an agency that regulates the transmission of natural gas, oil, and electricity, as well as regulating natural gas and hydropower projects.Two of FERC\u2019s guiding principles are their <em>\u201cdetermination to be open and fair to all participants\u201d<\/em> and to <em>\u201cconduct regular outreach to ensure that interested parties have an appropriate opportunity to contribute to the performance of the Commission&#8217;s responsibilities\u201d<\/em><\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; by using Cove Point as a case study, we are able to assess\u00a0whether FERC complies with its stated methods.(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ferc.gov\/about\/about.asp\">x<\/a>)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0As evidenced by Dominion&#8217;s application, the problems lie within the systems themselves&#8211;that is to say, Dominion&#8217;s application complies with FERC&#8217;s regulations completely. It can be concluded, therefore, that FERC&#8217;s regulations are faulty.
