Today\u2019s installment of \u201cSpider Sounds\u201d is by Alexandra, one of our student workers, and features the critically acclaimed album <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/librarycat.richmond.edu\/vwebv\/holdingsInfo?&#038;bibId=551766\" target=\"_blank\">The Joshua Tree<\/a><\/strong> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allmusic.com\/artist\/u2-mn0000219203\/biography\" target=\"_blank\">U2<\/a>.  This was <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/U2\" target=\"_blank\">U2<\/a>&#8216;s fifth studio album. It was released in the spring of 1987. It is almost impossible to choose one soundtrack to shine amongst the rest but if you only have time to listen to one album, then <em><a href=\"http:\/\/librarycat.richmond.edu\/vwebv\/holdingsInfo?&#038;bibId=551766\" target=\"_blank\">The Joshua Tree<\/a><\/em> is the one to pick. Lyrics from &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bullet_the_Blue_Sky\" target=\"_blank\">Bullet the Blue Sky<\/a>,&#8221; &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mothers_of_the_Disappeared\" target=\"_blank\">Mothers of the Disappeared<\/a>,&#8221; and &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/With_or_Without_You\" target=\"_blank\">With Or Without You<\/a>&#8221; represent the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Salvadoran_Civil_War\" target=\"_blank\">political<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Presidency_of_Ronald_Reagan\" target=\"_blank\">and<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/In_God%27s_Country\" target=\"_blank\">social<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Foreign_policy_of_the_Ronald_Reagan_administration#Latin_America\" target=\"_blank\">turmoil<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/UK_miners%27_strike_(1984%E2%80%9385)\" target=\"_blank\">occurring<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/A_Conspiracy_of_Hope\" target=\"_blank\">during<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mothers_of_the_Plaza_de_Mayo\" target=\"_blank\">the<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Joshua_Tree\" target=\"_blank\">time of production<\/a> and the sense of hope lost during these troubling times.
