April 10, 1958<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.richmond.edu\/parsons\/files\/2020\/10\/Errollyn-Wallen.jpg?resize=500%2C667\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2618\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.richmond.edu\/parsons\/files\/2020\/10\/Errollyn-Wallen.jpg?w=750&amp;ssl=1 750w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.richmond.edu\/parsons\/files\/2020\/10\/Errollyn-Wallen.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Errollyn Wallen was born in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Belize\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Belize<\/a> and moved to London with her family at the age of two. <\/p>\n<p>She trained as a dancer at the Maureen Lyons School of Dancing and the Urdang Academy before taking dance classes at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dancetheatreofharlem.org\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dance Theater of Harlem<\/a> and went on to study music and composition at the universities of London and Cambridge. <\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxfordmusiconline.com\/grovemusic\/view\/10.1093\/gmo\/9781561592630.001.0001\/omo-9781561592630-e-0000046008#.X4n6-oXjs_8.link\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Grove Music Online<\/a>, &#8220;Wallen draws inspiration from a great diversity of sources in her music.
