Children will\u00a0enjoy finding and counting all the animals scattered on each page. The children will love to count the animals and look for the &#8216;hidden&#8217; animals, anticipating the next page. This is a wonderful book to introduce\u00a0the numbers 1-10. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>5\u00a0Great websites with math games\u00a0for\u00a0kindergarteners<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.learningplanet.com\/\" title=\"www.learningplanet.com\">http:\/\/www.learningplanet.com\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.learningplanet.com\/act\/123order.asp\" title=\"123order\">123 Order<\/a> has students pick\u00a0the next number in a sequence of 3 numbers.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.learningplanet.com\/sam\/cyc\/index.asp?contentid=174\" title=\"Count Chickens\">Count Chickens<\/a> is another fun game in which kids count animals and then choose the correct number out of 3 choices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0\u00a0 Chevron cars has kid-friendly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chevroncars.com\/games\/connect-dots\/index.php\/random\" title=\"connect the dots\">connect the dots<\/a>, all in the shape of cars.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3.\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/countusin\/games.htm\">http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/countusin\/games.htm<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/countusin\/games\/game1.htm\" title=\"Game 1\">Game 1<\/a>: Sheep Counting- The player has to move the sheep from left to right until there are the same number of sheep in each paddock.<font size=\"2\" face=\"Arial\"> <\/font><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/countusin\/games\/game3.htm\" title=\"Game 3\">Game 3<\/a>: Counting- The player has to count the objects on the screen, then enter the number in either numerical and\/or in word format.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/countusin\/games\/game6.htm\" title=\"Game 6\">Game 6:<\/a>Representing Numbers- The player has to move a crayon with a word number to the corresponding digit of a Flying Girl.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/countusin\/games\/game11.htm\" title=\"Game 11\">Game 11<\/a>:Numbers- The player has to move a frog across a pond using the next highest number.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 4. <a href=\"http:\/\/resources.kaboose.com\/games\/fishin-mission.html\" title=\"Fishin' Mission\">Fishin&#8217; Mission <\/a>is a really cute game that kids will love. They are to catch a specific\u00a0number of fish and put them in the fisherman&#8217;s net.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fun4thebrain.com\/preschool\/bigseacount.html\" title=\"Big Sea Count\">Big Sea Count Counting Game\u00a0<\/a>will be a favorite with kindergartners.\u00a0The students will help Cora and Gavin count things in the sea.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>4 Additional resources to support number sense instruction<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/kidscount1234.com\/\" title=\"Kidscount1234\">Kidscount1234<\/a> is an amazing\u00a0website with counting games and activities that children will love.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kidzone.ws\/math\/kindergarten.htm\" title=\"Kidzone\">Kidzone<\/a> has numerous worksheets that can be useful to reinforce concepts.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calicocookie.com\/mathjournal.html\" title=\"calicocookie\">Calicocookie<\/a>\u00a0details how math journals can be used to teach math in Kindergarten classrooms.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hubbardscupboard.org\/counting_bags.html\" title=\"Hubbards Cupboard\">Hubbards Cupboard<\/a> has many resources to teach number sense.
