Olson<\/p>\n<p>This book explains moon phases in very simple language. Diagrams in the book are helpful and easy to understand. The book&#8217;s pictures are so great that this book is recommended for struggling readers trying to understand the concept of moon phases.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Seems-Change-Lets-Read---Find-Out-Science\/dp\/0064450651\/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1286112153&amp;sr=1-5\">The Moon Seems to Change<\/a>, by Franklyn M. Branley and illustrated by Barbra and Ed Emberley.<\/p>\n<p>This book is recommended to accompany your science text. It&#8217;s a great supplement to teaching the concept of moon phases. The books includes great diagrams and pictures.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/search.barnesandnoble.com\/The-Moon\/David-Jefferis\/e\/9780778737476\/?itm=4&amp;USRI=moon+phases+children\">The Moon<\/a>, byDavid Jefferis<\/p>\n<p>This book features photos from NASA! The book is now in it&#8217;s new edition. It features great color pictures and information about the moon.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/openwidelookinside\/files\/2010\/10\/the-moon-book.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"The Moon\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/search.barnesandnoble.com\/The-Moon-Book\/Gail-Gibbons\/e\/9780823413645\/?itm=1&amp;USRI=moon+phases+children\">The Moon Book<\/a>, written and illustrated by Gail Gibbons<\/p>\n<p>Gail Gibbons writes and illustrates\u00a0a fantastic book. This book is the best book for sharing with third graders about the subject.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/When-Look-Rookie-Read-About-Science\/dp\/0516460250\">When You Look Up at the Moon<\/a>, written by Allan Fowler<\/p>\n<p>Good book for children that may not have prior knowledge about the moon. This book is a great starting point.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Web sites for children<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencenetlinks.com\/interactives\/moon\/moon_challenge\/moon_challenge.html\">Lunar Cycle Challenge Game<\/a>\u00a0The object of this game is for the children to drag the moon to their correct place in the lunar cycle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.quia.com\/rd\/11412.html?AP_rand=2051570417\">Moon Phase Order<\/a>\u00a0This site features the moon phases in random order and the children can put them in the correct order and check for correctness. Great game for children to play together!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.quia.com\/jfc\/431146.html\">Moon Phase Flashcards<\/a>\u00a0This site would be great for children to use as a tutorial when preparing for a moon phase quiz! You click on the flashcards to review all phases of the moon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/spaceplace.nasa.gov\/en\/kids\/phonedrmarc\/2004_march.shtml\">How Long Does a Moon Phase Last?<\/a>\u00a0This site will help children to understand how long moon phases last. It also has a great visual of the Earth, moon, ans sun as the moon goes through it&#8217;s phases. The site offers easy to follow demonstrations as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk\/time\/moon\/phases.html\">Moon Phases-The Basics<\/a>\u00a0Great site for children to read about the moon&#8217;s phases. It&#8217;s answers basic questions about the moon&#8217;s phases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Resources for teachers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/users.manchester.edu\/student\/RJFlanders\/ProWeb\/moon%20phases.pdf\">Moon Phase Stations<\/a>\u00a0You will find an actual lesson plan that is filled with learning stations that you can set up to help your children better understand the topic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www2.semo.edu\/mast\/mlc\/moon.htm\">Activities for Most Ages<\/a>\u00a0There are moon phase activities for grades K-12. This site is helpful to those who need activities to accommodate and challenge students alike.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/classroom.jc-schools.net\/sci-units\/earth.htm\">Science Online<\/a>\u00a0This site includes demonstrations, lesson plans, printables, and much more!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www2.scholastic.com\/browse\/article.jsp?id=4850\">Challenge<\/a>\u00a0Great questions and answers about the moon.
