It can be a little bit overwhelming for a kid to learn that it all grows the same way.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Carrot-Seed-60th-Anniversary\/dp\/0064432106\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1252969827&amp;sr=1-1-spell\"><u>The Carrot Seed<\/u><\/a>, by Ruth Krauss and pictures by Crockett Johnson (author and illustrator of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Harold-Purple-Crayon-Anniversary-Books\/dp\/0064430227\">Harold and the Purple Crayon<\/a>) is a endearingly simple tale of a little boy who wants to grow something on his own.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone (his brother, his mother, and his father too!!) keeps telling him the carrot seed he planted won&#8217;t come up.<\/p>\n<p><em>His mother said, &#8220;I&#8217;m afraid it won&#8217;t come up.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>\n<em>His father said, &#8220;I&#8217;m afraid it won&#8217;t come up.&#8221;<br \/>\nAnd his big brother said, &#8220;It won&#8217;t come up.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>But this did not discourage the little boy. Each day he sprinkled the seed with water and carefully pulled up any weeds who tried to stake their claim.\u00a0 The carrot seed still did not come up.\u00a0 Day after day he was discouraged by those around him but he held on to his confidence that it <strong>would<\/strong> come up.\u00a0 One day&#8230;it did!
