Motion, Forces, and You"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/openwidelookinside\/files\/2009\/09\/moveit.jpg\" title=\"moveit.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/openwidelookinside\/files\/2009\/09\/moveit.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"moveit.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Move-Motion-Primary-Physical-Science\/dp\/1553377591\/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1252376881&amp;sr=1-2\">Move It!: Motion, Forces, and You<\/a>, written by Adrienne Mason, illustrated by Claudia Davila, is a great introduction to motion and force for students.\u00a0 The book is filled with concise descriptions of force in the form of pushing, pulling, throwing, kicking, lifting, and stopping.\u00a0 Force is described in situations that students are familiar with:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> &#8220;To throw a ball to someone far away, you need to use a lot of force (a big push).\u00a0 To throw to someone closer, you need less force.\u00a0 The more force you use to move something, the greater the distance it will move&#8221; (p.12).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Move It!<\/em> also discusses gravity and friction.\u00a0 This book is very student-friendly as it uses pictures of children engaged in games and playground activities to depict the use of force.\u00a0 In addition to the descriptions of force, there are fun activities throughout the book, as well as a section of additional information and activities for parents and teachers at the end.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Curriculum Connections<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Move It!
