Miss Prime, the classroom teacher, presents her animal students with the core facts of addition by having them play detective and invent word problems.\u00a0 Leedy&#8217;s explanations are clear and concise, and her colorful pictures feature a multitude of amusing animals.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/openwidelookinside\/files\/2009\/07\/sea-sums.gif\" title=\"sea-sums.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/openwidelookinside\/files\/2009\/07\/sea-sums.gif\" alt=\"sea-sums.gif\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/search.barnesandnoble.com\/Sea-Sums\/Joy-Hulme\/e\/9780786801701\/?itm=4\" title=\"Sea Sums @ Barnes &amp; Noble\">Sea Sums<\/a> written by Joy Hulme and illustrated by Carol Schwartz.\u00a0 Simple math concepts are presented through the animals and plants of a coral reef.\u00a0 The problems are presented in four-line rhymes, and then the numbers, words, and math symbols that make up the equation are also written out. Pallotta uses Hershey kisses as a way to teach students the basics of subtraction.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Websites<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Children enjoy using the computer, so why not take advantage of this interest and allow them to play and practice math skills while on the computer.\u00a0 Below you will find interactive and engaging websites focused on computation skills for addition and subtraction.\u00a0 Go ahead, try a few and have fun!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/openwidelookinside\/files\/2009\/07\/concentration.jpg\" title=\"concentration.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/openwidelookinside\/files\/2009\/07\/concentration.jpg\" alt=\"concentration.jpg\" align=\"right\" height=\"43\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" width=\"43\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aplusmath.com\/cgi-bin\/games\/add_conc\" title=\"AplusMath\">AplusMath- Addition Concentration<\/a>\u00a0 &#8211; Students can test their memory and practice addition skills at the same time.\u00a0 Students are presented with two gameboards, one which contains the addition equations, and the other which contains the sums.\u00a0 This game requires concentration !<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.funbrain.com\/cgi-bin\/nl.cgi?A1=s&amp;A2=1&amp;INSTRUCTS=1\" title=\"FunBrain\">FunBrain- Line Jumper<\/a> &#8211; Students recall basic addition and subtraction facts in Line Jumper.\u00a0 FunBrain shows a number line and a math question.\u00a0 Students have to click on the number line at the correct answer for the question.\u00a0 This particular activity is for numbers less than 20, however there is a level of difficulty option that ranges from easy to super brain.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.harcourtschool.com\/activity\/hrise\/hrise.html\" title=\"Harcourt Math Advantage\">Harcourt Math Advantage-High Rise Math<\/a> &ndash; Harcourt offers a variety of math activities that correlate to their textbook.\u00a0 Rise Math is an addition and subtraction game that is played between partners with a twist.\u00a0 Partners compete to the top floor of the building by answering math questions, however students move throughout the building according to the type of math problem they&#039;re given.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.harcourtschool.com\/activity\/add\/add.html\" title=\"Harcourt Math Advantage\">Harcourt Math Advantage-Addition Surprise!<\/a>\u00a0 &#8211; It&#039;s a multi-skill activity!
