For my final project I would like to explore sexuality in\u00a0 country music. I will look at how country “sticks to its roots” and appeals to a white male demographic by objectifying women, hating on the racial Other, and underrepresenting minority artists. I need to do more research on the topic before I know the exact breakdown of how I want to structure the essay and incorporate gender, sexuality, and race, but one example I definitely want to talk about is Lil Nas X (who I brought up in many of my discussion posts) because I think he’s a prime example of how country resists diversification.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
