ABBA first rose to fame in 1974 in Sweden, when they entered the Swedish selection for Eurovision with their song “Waterloo,” which would go on to win the competition on April 6, 1974. They firmly established themselves as a pop group in 1976 with the release of their album Arrival, going on a tour of Europe and Australia (where they were extremely popular). While the two couples that made up the four members of the band eventually divorced, they continued to release and perform new music until the band as a whole decided to take a break in 1982. The band reunited at the premiere of Mamma Mia! And Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again in 2008 and 2018 respectively and in 2021, the band again reunited with the release of their ninth studio album, Voyage (ABBA: The Official Site n.d., “The Story”).
