{"id":26,"date":"2022-04-13T09:35:53","date_gmt":"2022-04-13T13:35:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/mus122-sp22-03\/?page_id=26"},"modified":"2022-04-25T20:17:17","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T00:17:17","slug":"the-creation-of-homework","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/mus122-sp22-03\/the-creation-of-homework\/","title":{"rendered":"The Creation of The Album &#8220;Homework&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The production of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Homework<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the perfect example of the culture shift that the at-home availability of production tools caused.\u00a0 The instrumentation that is heard on the tracks within <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Homework<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is incredibly vast, and extremely impressive given the small variety of tools that were used in production.\u00a0 The album \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">appears and breaks the mold: with an audience devoted to dance, its proposal is to review and shred sounds that come from further back in time and land in electronic culture, using its newest sonic aspects\u201d (Nexis Uni).\u00a0 Daft punk uses synthesizers to create a multitude of different sounds, which return \u201cto funk, disco, hip-hop, electro and other\u201d genres (Nexis Uni).\u00a0 The ability for an artist to create music with such a variety in their sounds is incredible, and is due to the use of technology like synthesizers and DAWs.\u00a0 Thomas Bangalter, one of the members of Daft Punk, attests to this in an interview, \u201cyou can do some really lo-fi stuff with two drum machines and an old synth and put it out on a major label\u201d (Petridis).
