{"id":30,"date":"2024-03-20T14:00:16","date_gmt":"2024-03-20T18:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/moreaboutus\/?page_id=30"},"modified":"2024-05-01T15:33:43","modified_gmt":"2024-05-01T19:33:43","slug":"how-to-participate","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/moreaboutus\/how-to-participate\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Participate"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Participate in <span class=\"s2\">More About Us, a UR Community<\/span><span class=\"s3\"> Disability Visibility Oral History Campaign using StoryCorps DIY <\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong><span class=\"s3\">Last Day to Participate, Monday, May 13, 2024<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1: Create an Account<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Create an account in the StoryCorps Archive Online and join the <span class=\"s4\">More About Us <\/span>recording community using the link <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.storycorps.org\/communities\/more-about-us\/register\"><span class=\"s5\">https:\/\/archive.storycorps.org\/communities\/more-about-us\/<\/span><span class=\"s5\">register<\/span><\/a> and the community code <strong>SpiderDisabilityPride<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2: Decide how you want to record and with whom:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"s3\">Option A: <\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s3\">Record live at the Technology Learning Center at Boatwright the week of March 31-April 5 \u00a0with a <\/span><span class=\"s3\">chosen <\/span><span class=\"s3\">conversation partner or a member of the More About Us team by requesting a <\/span><span class=\"s3\">time at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/moreaboutus\/\"><span class=\"s6\">https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/moreaboutus\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"s3\">Option B:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s3\"> \u00a0Record on <\/span><span class=\"s3\">your own <\/span><span class=\"s3\">with <\/span><span class=\"s3\">your<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">chosen <\/span><span class=\"s3\">partner using the StoryCorps App<\/span><span class=\"s3\"> for mobile devices or StoryCorps Connect for PCs and Macs. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"s3\">Step 3: Prepare<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s3\">Choose your questions with your conversation partner<\/span><span class=\"s3\">. A list of suggested questions can be found at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.storycorps.org\/communities\/more-about-us\/\"><span class=\"s5\">https:\/\/archive.storycorps.org\/communities\/<\/span><span class=\"s5\">more-abou<\/span><span class=\"s5\">t<\/span><span class=\"s5\">-us\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4: Record<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If recording on your own, practice using the technology, find a quiet place and press Record. If recording with us, come to TLC on the 2<span class=\"s7\">nd<\/span> Floor of Boatwright and let us do the rest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5: Preserve your Recording for History and Decide with Whom to Share<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If recording on your own with the StoryCorps App or StoryCorps Connect, follow the prompts to archive your story using keyword #MoreAboutUs.
