This lens is a product of many variables, for instance, the way one was raised, socioeconomic background, and ethnic culture. These and many other factors play into our outlook on the world to varying degrees. Media, whether consciously or unconsciously, affects our identity and way we view the world as well. Digital media platforms such as Instagram, Tiktok, Youtube and Snapchat allow us more quick exposure to media than ever before. Therefore, our identities are able to change and evolve much more easily. Having access to so much new media allows people to consider new perspectives and find new interests. In our modern day, I think identities are more varied and multifaceted than ever before. Another interesting thing about media is that, just as much as it can shape it identity, we can use it to express our identity outward to a multitude of people. Seeing the way people express themselves online allows others to realize they may not be alone in their identity.
