The Flip Side

Rebelling today cause it seems like theimage1 (7) right week to do it. Rather than my off-center back corner seat, today i am sitting in the middle of the altar. I’m on the steps about 3 feet up from ground level. And it’s a different space.

The windows on the side are doing roughly the same thing as usual. It’s surprisingly dim on both sides, much more balanced than i would have expected considering how bright it is outside. But i prefer it this way so I’m not complaining.

The artificial light from the foyer stretches down the center aisle to about the halfway divide. It seems so aggressively yellow compared to the mutes grey walls of the chapel and the more tempered light from the windows.

I can’t stop looking at the rose window. I know logically that the molding in the window is a dark gray but it really looks like negative space. The oranges, blues, reds, and purples create this majestic, complex piece that leaves your eye constantly moving around. It’s very Color Project. It does continue to image1 (6)disappoint me that the light doesn’t seem to GO anywhere. There’s no reflection of it anywhere.

The longer i sit, i notice how pink the floor is where the amber stops. Crazy that i’d never seen that from my old seat. I think my old seat is a bit more comfortable though 😉
