Why not make it a meditation?

image1I have chosen to journal in Cannon Memorial Chapel. I am sitting in the last row on the left so that I can see the whole room without turning around.

Light coming from the stained glass windows on either side of the organ hits the pipes, allowing the viewer to see the difference in depth of how the pipes are arranged. The bottom of the wooden casing for the pipes casts a shadow drawing the eye to where the organ player would be seated during a mass or performance.

The light comes in image2much more strongly from the windows on the right side of the building, with the brightest window being the 4th of the 6 windows. The stone directly underneath the windows has a reflection of the colors from the stained glass outline. The light is coming through the window at an angle which causes some of the colors to reflect but remain distinct. On the left side, they are much more blended and soft as the light outside is not as strong. The front and back sections of ceiling are not as bright as those in the center as the windows below them are much smaller.

image3The peak of the wood over the organ is much brighter than the wood on the sides, perhaps from light coming through the rose window which is directly across the room from it. There is just enough light to image4see a small amount of texture on the plaster above the organ. As I am leaving, the brightest window is now the 5th of the 6 on the right side. I’m noticing how much brighter the organ is lit from the right than from the left.

The Chapel is definitely a peaceful place to journal though I am slightly worried that someone will come in and startle me from my complete silence.
