{"id":799,"date":"2016-11-11T21:34:54","date_gmt":"2016-11-11T21:34:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst368\/?p=799"},"modified":"2016-11-11T21:34:54","modified_gmt":"2016-11-11T21:34:54","slug":"act-iii-week-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst368\/2016\/11\/11\/act-iii-week-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Act III, Week 8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">On Thursday (11\/10), we had a new mix of students again.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We had two returning students and two new students.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The new students participate in the Act IV group, and so they were familiar to the structure of rehearsals.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We have had one consistent student attend all of our rehearsals throughout the project.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It has been exciting to watch him throughout each stage of the production.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The spontaneity of attendance has also added an element of excitement to the project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We are lucky to hold our rehearsals in the space where the performance will actually occur in December.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>This week we began blocking our scenes and had the students practice on the Chapel stage.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We improvised parts, and all of the students were flexible and open to playing different roles.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We emphasized where the students will stand on the stage while performing, encouraged them to face the audience, and suggested that they try to project their voices.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Some students are stronger readers than others, but they can all get through their lines.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We had to occasionally remind certain students to be patient while other students might be struggling to read their lines.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We emphasized that it was okay for them to feel as though the lines are difficult, but that they will become easier to read with practice.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>While some students are self-sufficient on stage, others need a little coaching as to when to read their parts.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We might have to be on stage with them while they are performing to help them through the scenes, but we will continue to try to get them more comfortable reading and following along with the script independently.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">My favorite part of rehearsal this week was when a new student, Dale, added some needed comedy into the scene.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Dale was reading Toby\u2019s part, and before every line he would read Toby\u2019s full name, \u201cSir Toby Belch,\u201d followed by an \u201cExcuse me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday (11\/10), we had a new mix of students again.\u00a0 We had two returning students and two new students.\u00a0 The new students participate in the Act IV group, and so they were familiar to the structure of rehearsals.\u00a0 We have had one consistent student attend all of our rehearsals throughout the project.\u00a0 It has [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3145,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-799","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst368\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/799","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst368\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst368\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst368\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3145"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst368\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=799"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst368\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/799\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst368\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=799"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst368\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=799"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst368\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=799"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
