The #MeToo Movement matters to all people and serves as a reminder of the importance of workplace equality. All people benefit from treating others with dignity and all people lose when they cause harm to others. Equality is not a zero-sum game; society suffers when individuals are excluded or neglected on the basis of identity. People should care about the issue of sexual harassment and assault in the workplace because of the negative psychological and physical impacts assault has on victims. Likewise, businesses perform poorly when toxic workplace environments create mistrust and fear among employees. The #MeToo Movement is critical to survivors of sexual harassment and assault in the workplace because #MeToo allows women to express their experiences and confront their assailants with public support. Women find solace knowing they can reclaim their lives after sexual assault with the #MeToo forum; the movement helps women come together in solidarity to demand justice.
