{"id":3763,"date":"2020-10-27T10:40:20","date_gmt":"2020-10-27T14:40:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst1010304f2019\/?p=3763"},"modified":"2020-10-27T10:40:20","modified_gmt":"2020-10-27T14:40:20","slug":"blog-post-10-28-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst1010304f2019\/2020\/10\/27\/blog-post-10-28-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Blog Post 10\/28"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Before reading this chapter I never really understood exactly what happened in Vietnam.\u00a0 I knew about the Pentagon Papers and how the government was lying to the US public, yet it still never registered exactly how shady this war was.\u00a0 I thought it was very interesting to see the differences for why we were going into war with Vietnam for example, Kennedy\u2019s Undersecretary of State U. Alexis Johnson said, \u201cWhy is it desirable, and why is it important? First, it provides a lush climate, fertile soil, rich natural resources, a relatively sparse population in most areas, and room to expand.
