{"id":1096,"date":"2019-10-08T17:49:31","date_gmt":"2019-10-08T21:49:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst1010304f2019\/?p=1096"},"modified":"2019-10-08T17:49:31","modified_gmt":"2019-10-08T21:49:31","slug":"tranformational-vs-transactional-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/ldst1010304f2019\/2019\/10\/08\/tranformational-vs-transactional-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"Tranformational vs. Transactional Leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the article titled\u00a0<em>The Transformation of Transforming Leadership,\u00a0<\/em>I was really confused about the section that compared the term &#8220;transformational leadership&#8221; with the term &#8220;transforming leadership.&#8221; Couto says that &#8220;the adjective form of a noun, transformation&#8230;suggests a condition or a state&#8221; while &#8220;the adjective form of a verb, transform&#8230;suggests leadership as a process.&#8221;\u00a0Why, then, is it better for leadership to be a state rather than a process?<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, I thought that the explanation of transactional leadership given in the STU article was very clear. I liked how it gave examples of where transactional leadership is used versus where transformational leadership is used, as well as how it gave examples of transactional leaders. In transactional leadership, the emphasis is put on the performance of the individual. In the quotes given at the end of the article, it is easy to see that idea put into play.
