VPN is an acronym for Virtual Private Networking. You use VPN software when a specific IP (internet) address is needed. For law school, you will use your VPN connection when you would like to work with a certain subscription database, such as HeinOnline, ProQuest, and Bloomberg BNA.
To use the software, find Cisco Anyconnect in Programs (Windows) or Applications (Mac). When you click the connect button, you will type in your netID and passphrase. Now, you’re virtually back on campus, but in the comfort of your own home, Starbucks, or wherever you may be.
