Welcome to Getting to Know You, where we interview a member of our Muse Law Library staff. In this post we’re getting to know Mei Kiu Lo, Cataloging and Systems Librarian.


Q: Describe your academic and professional history

A: Degrees:
Master of Library Science at SUNY
Advanced certificate of Library Science at UNC

Work experience at libraries:
10+ year of experience at libraries, including public libraries, state library and academic libraries


Q: How did you get into the field?

A: I like library atmosphere and applied for a Library Science Degree.


Q: What brought you to Richmond?

A: Work


Q: What do you enjoy about your work?

A: I enjoy making library materials available for patron use.


Q: How would you describe your current work here to other people who don’t know anything about what goes on in a law library?

A: The Law Library is going to migrate to new integrated library systems.


Q: What’s your favorite part of our collection?

A: The mindfulness section.


Q: Why?

A: It helps my meditation


Q: Tell us something most of your coworkers don’t know about you

A: I can speak Cantonese.


Q: What’s your favorite spot on the UR campus? And/Or what ‘s your favorite hangout in Richmond?

A: Weinstein Center for Recreation.


Q: What’s the best vacation you ever took?

A: It hasn’t happened yet!


Q:What’s your favorite recipe?

A: Creme Brulee by instant pot. It is very easy to make and tastes delicious.
