11.10 Latino Portrait of Jesus

Elizondo provides us with several pages about the history of his life and upbringing to setup his argument about identity and culture. He argues that Jesus was a culturally confused individual stuck between not being Jewish enough for the Jews but too Jewish for the Gentiles. Mesizaje is the process of two completely different groups of people mixing in both cultural and biological aspects (Elizondo 17). He claims that Jesus’ main message was the joy of common table fellowship with everyone.
