Jesus According to a Croissant

Crossan presents Roman imperial rule as a violent guest for victory and would thus bring about peace.  He contrasts this with Jesus’ eschatological kingdom in which nonviolence would bring about peace and justice.  While Jesus preached that the kingdom had “somewhat” come to the earth and that peace would come through nonviolence both on the part of him and his people but also on God’s part.  John the Baptist instead preached the imminent coming of a violent God
