9. 20. Third Quest, Sanders, Vermes

The third quest was the first one to not be as concerned with theology and primarily the historical Jesus. Sanders emphasizes the the balance between Jesus and Judaism. Sanders believed in deeds more than sayings. At the end of the conclusion Sanders discusses the idea that we should not regard Jesus as ALL good and Jews as ALL bad. Vermes discusses Jesus as a Galilean Jew, and Jesus as a holy man of Judaism.
