Gospel of Luke

We discussed the emphasis of a Universal Jesus, one who appeals to not only Jews but Gentiles as well.  He appeals to the individuals of the lower social stature and income, thus attracting individuals living in poverty with the wealth and riches of the Kingdom of Heaven.  We also talked about how Luke emphasizes the innocence of Jesus throughout the Gospel.  Jesus is proclaimed as innocent at least 3 times by both Roman and Gentile leaders, yet he is still crucified and a great injustice is done.  The witnesses of the crucifixion recognize his innocence only after the fact and there is an emphasis on repentance as a means of gaining salvation.
