Week 6: Organizational Culture

Throughout my time at AlphaSights, I have been continuously impressed by the vibrant and supportive culture that the company is able to maintain. Because the company is filled with mostly young professionals, the workplace has a great balance between structure and innovation.

Yesterday, we had our first in-person whole company event since before COVID. It was so exciting to be gathered all together and see an in-person, live presentation. The company has an amazing operations team that put the event together. During this event (the “Quarterly Update”), the heads of the firm went over the success of the company over the last quarter and how each business unit was performing. In addition, the head of the Americas division outlined growth initiatives and opportunities for personal development within the company. As the company continues to grow, AlphaSights has been able to maintain a strong people-first outlook. This has enabled the firm to grow so quickly, as individuals truly want to support the company and work hard for the well-being of the firm. The firm continues to reward employees for high success and achievements, which only incentivizes individuals to work their hardest daily.

One of the best parts of my internship so far has been the in-person aspect. People at AlphaSights really value being in the office. Even though it is not mandatory to be in person M-W until September, nearly 65% of the NY office space is occupied, compared to the 20% statistic of most other NY office buildings. This shows how much individuals want to be able to collaborate, spend time, and work together in person. Being in person three days a week and virtually two days a week has been a great balance for me. This structure initially came into place based on feedback the company received from its employees, further showcasing how the organization wants its employees to be happy within the firm.

In addition, AlphaSights is currently going through a large brand refresh in order to best position ourselves within the competitive sector. Part of this refresh is clearly defining our values and finding talent to match the culture. So far, I have been so impressed by everyone I have met and have felt as though the culture has been extremely welcoming. Overall, I have really enjoyed working for AlphaSights partly due to the amazing culture and youthful nature of the firm. I truly feel as though this is a company that will only grow more in years to come due to senior leadership’s desire to support personal professional development and maintain a healthy work-life balance among its employees.
