{"id":3831,"date":"2020-06-21T19:01:36","date_gmt":"2020-06-21T23:01:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/jepsoninternship2020\/?p=3831"},"modified":"2020-06-21T19:03:28","modified_gmt":"2020-06-21T23:03:28","slug":"transformational-leadership-at-three-ventures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/jepsoninternship2020\/2020\/06\/21\/transformational-leadership-at-three-ventures\/","title":{"rendered":"Transformational Leadership at Three Ventures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While interning at Three Ventures, I have noticed how prevalent the Transformational Theory is with respect to the Principal.\u00a0 The Transformational Theory of leadership illustrates how there is a reciprocal process with how a leader tries to meet the higher-order needs of their followers, which is what William Beatson does.\u00a0 There are four different dimensions of the theory:\u00a0 idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individual consideration.\u00a0 Taking all of these dimensions into consideration, I feel as though William aligns with inspirational motivation the most.\u00a0 This dimension emphasizes how a leader puts forth a vision to inspire their followers.\u00a0 William Beatson embodies this inspirational motivation with me, as well as with his clients.\u00a0 Even if it has not been a good day at work for him, he strives to end our phone calls looking and moving forward.\u00a0 His positivity through leadership, in turn, motivates me to continue to work hard and make progress throughout this internship.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">An example of this inspirational motivation occurs at the start of every week when we make a plan after the weekend.\u00a0 William presents exactly what has transpired since we talked, positively or negatively, and then enthusiastically lays out a plan for what we need to accomplish.\u00a0 There have been some weeks where a client backs out on a contract, or a new one falls through, yet he still maintains this inspirational outlook for how we will move forward.\u00a0 With respect to his clients, I have noticed this Transformational leadership while on conference calls, either listening in or contributing information.\u00a0 One of the calls the client had a serious issue with a contract that he needed done, which seemed impossible and daunting to get processed in time.\u00a0 Through the close and trusting relationship William builds with each client, he was able to come out with alternatives and propose people who could help.\u00a0 He always creates an inspirational vision for the client and works them through all of the processes for how to get there.\u00a0 The support that he continually provides and the positive attitude he continues to have by leading transformationally has been a great example to me throughout this internship so far.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While interning at Three Ventures, I have noticed how prevalent the Transformational Theory is with respect to the Principal.\u00a0 The<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3644,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_layout":"default_layout","footnotes":""},"categories":[76611],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3831","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-theories-in-action"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/jepsoninternship2020\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3831","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/jepsoninternship2020\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/jepsoninternship2020\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/jepsoninternship2020\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3644"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/jepsoninternship2020\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=3831"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/jepsoninternship2020\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3831\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/jepsoninternship2020\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3831"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/jepsoninternship2020\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=3831"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/jepsoninternship2020\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=3831"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
