The team just introduced a new client that the interns are going to be working with. The company is based in Richmond and I am very excited to gain experience in client work. The main thing I wanted to learn at Cavi this summer was how to approach client projects and how they operate through the entire client relation process. That being said, I was eager to take on a large role in the project with our new client. Based on my prior skills, accomplishments at Cavi thus far, and interests, I decided I wanted to take the lead on the “core process” part of the project. This would entail working closely with the head of the client company, creating precise and successful operation processes (which I have previously worked on at Cavi), and learning the details of a consulting position.

Although I wanted to take a leading role, other people were also interested in this position. This was my first experience having to defend my abilities and fight for the position. Through a conversation explaining my qualifications, interest and enthusiasm, and willingness to learn, the team agreed that I would be right for the job. It was a proud moment for me to see that I was able to effectively communicate my opinion and my coworkers thought I would be successful. I’m looking forward to taking on this role and getting started working with our client this upcoming week. I think this is a great opportunity to improve my leadership skills and I am excited to explore this in a business context.

This week was highly focused on communication.
