Over the course of six weeks I feel like I have done so many things for the city of Richmond. I honestly feel so close and integrated within my portfolio and the department as a whole. My co-workers and team within my portfolio contributed to my success and understanding of my obligations to the Financial Department of City Hall. With that being said I can now dive into the things I have done since I have started my internship. I have designed the crest and documented for the Mayors Fellowship Program. I also implemented different program ideas for improving employee onboarding, the internship program, employee learning week, such as a shadowing opportunity for employees. Allowing employees to shadow a profession or a higher position in their workplace so they can get a feel for a position they want to pursue in the future. I also coordinated logistics for upcoming retreats for Finance & Administration teams. Collected and complied new and existing data relating to completion of portfolio work logs\/ I conducted research for ways to improve employee happiness and effectiveness. That research consisted of marketing approaches for employee seminars and programs, strategic scheduling ideas, and revitalizing an event called Coffee & Conversation. The thing I am most proud of is assisting the IT department and the Press Secretary on creating the City of Richmond\u2019s new website.<\/p>\n
Despite being the youngest person in my portfolio and only having a temporary position, I have contributed a great deal to the financial department. A portion of my job is rebranding the internal structure of the whole Financial Department. The head of the Financial Department saw the work that I did for the Mayor\u2019s Fellows Program crest on my first day and considered giving me a shot at rebranding the whole department. Within the first week I developed an innovative and inclusive design for the department. With that branding piece, the programs that were directly apart of the department and portfolio all had to have that same innovative flair.
