And the reason I love it is because the people who work in the non profit world here are the most understanding people I have ever worked for (again, aside from my boss at UR, Shelby). I’m not going to lie, I was worried that my internship would keep me from enjoying the city, but my boss actually encourages me to. She understands that the world cup is a big deal to many people, and that this weekend especially was important for many spanards. In fact, everyone I work with has been a wonderful leader in one way or another, which reminds me of what I learned about in Dr. Goethals course: how everyone in your life can be a leader – friends, family, coworkers, even strangers. And It really is up to you, as the individual to pick and choose which leadership traits you want to embody and then embody them without fear of judgment so that “goodness” can be observed and repeated.

I learned a lot about the messy mix between football (soccer) – nationalism – etc…I am hoping to write my thesis on this topic and am excited to work with Dr. Hidalgo and the rest of Jepson for the next year in completing this project.

A bit of a late post.
