{"id":1895,"date":"2013-01-20T21:04:45","date_gmt":"2013-01-21T01:04:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/james\/?p=1895"},"modified":"2013-02-05T16:13:44","modified_gmt":"2013-02-05T20:13:44","slug":"wet-wednesday-with-the-earth-lodgers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/james\/2013\/01\/20\/wet-wednesday-with-the-earth-lodgers\/","title":{"rendered":"Wet Wednesday with the Earth Lodgers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I really enjoyed class on Wednesday. \u00a0Let&#8217;s just say it was a lot more invigorating than my other classes during Syllabus Week. \u00a0I really enjoyed walking all around the outskirts of campus, even if the weather wasn&#8217;t that great. \u00a0We exhibited the creeks and streams and everything was just very wet. \u00a0I liked it. \u00a0(except the ominous dead bird- that was frightening).<\/p>\n<p>Walking behind the baseball field where campus borders College Road was fun. \u00a0I was always curious about the stream back there. \u00a0My friends and I always drive really fast down that road, and I feel like we&#8217;re zipping by the beautiful natural imagery of that stream. \u00a0It&#8217;s like the secret hangout spot that the geese and ducks go to when they&#8217;re sick of being harassed by students. \u00a0Class on Wednesday gave me a chance to check that area out from a completely new perspective. \u00a0It was nice to see the stream as more than just a blur through a Honda Civic window. \u00a0Speaking of blurs, it would be nice to make an impressionist painting of that stream!<\/p>\n<p>I have a completely new perspective of Westhampton Lake now. \u00a0I used to have this elementary idea that it was just an oval in the middle of campus. \u00a0It&#8217;s definitely more complicated than that. \u00a0In Gottwald, there is a poster of our campus map being compared to parts of a plant cell.
