{"id":63,"date":"2016-05-05T15:00:13","date_gmt":"2016-05-05T19:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/irbinsider\/?page_id=63"},"modified":"2016-10-04T11:21:23","modified_gmt":"2016-10-04T15:21:23","slug":"citi-training","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/irbinsider\/training\/citi-training\/","title":{"rendered":"CITI Training and Administration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>CITI Training<\/strong>.\u00a0 All University of Richmond faculty, staff, and students who are engaged in research with human subjects must complete training on the protection of human subjects.\u00a0 University of Richmond researchers must satisfy the human subjects training requirement by completing course modules (free of charge) through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.citiprogram.org\" target=\"_blank\">CITI<\/a>) program.\u00a0 Training must be renewed every three years, usually by completing abbreviated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citiprogram.org\" target=\"_blank\">CITI<\/a> renewal courses offered directly to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citiprogram.org\" target=\"_blank\">CITI<\/a> members.<\/p>\n<p>Evidence of completion of training must be provided to the IRB before the research begins.\u00a0 Training requirements will vary depending on the proposal.\u00a0 This University of Richmond requirement is consistent with federal requirements and has been formally approved by the UR IRB.\u00a0 Over 4,000 UR faculty, staff and students have completed required CITI training since the adoption of this requirement in September, 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Minimum training requirements for faculty, staff, and students (conducting no more than minimal risk research) consist of the basic courses that are listed below and linked to registration directions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/richmond.box.com\/s\/2hqfo805eurkytz3rott1io5aguhis5y\">CITI Training for Students<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/richmond.box.com\/s\/5lpopowk4fysrfv4dr6ct2rcbioiolbw\">CITI Training for Faculty and Staff<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>CITI Administration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The CITI program at the University of Richmond is administered by Dr. R. Kirk Jonas (<a href=\"mailto:rjonas@richmond.edu\">rjonas@richmond.edu<\/a>) .\u00a0 Dr. Jonas should be contacted for information on the CITI program, difficulties registering for a course or module, and other CITI matters.\u00a0 Rhonda Lambert (<a href=\"mailto:rlambert@richmond.edu\" target=\"_blank\">rlambert@richmond.edu<\/a>), the Administrative Coordinator of the <a href=\"http:\/\/grants.richmond.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations<\/a> serves as the University&#8217;s alternate CITI administrator.\u00a0 Rhonda Lambert should be contacted if Dr. Jonas is unavailable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CITI PURCHASED BY BRANY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On May 5, 2016 the University of Richmond IRB Chair was informed via email that the &#8220;CITI Program has been acquired by Biomedical Research Alliance of New York (BRANY) as of 1 May 2016.&#8221;\u00a0 A copy of the announcement of the acquisition can be found<a href=\"https:\/\/www.citiprogram.org\/index.cfm?pageID=418&amp;id=110\" target=\"_blank\"> HERE<\/a>.\u00a0 No announcements of substantive changes have been made by CITI or BRANY as of October 4, 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BILLING INSTRUCTIONS FOR PAYMENTS TO CITI<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a reminder, please note that the CITI Program has been acquired by Biomedical Research Alliance of New York (BRANY) as of 1 May\u00a02016. As a result, our address and Tax ID number have changed and we are advising our subscribing organizations to update their billing records.
