{"id":44,"date":"2016-05-05T14:44:10","date_gmt":"2016-05-05T18:44:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/irbinsider\/?page_id=44"},"modified":"2016-07-06T13:40:47","modified_gmt":"2016-07-06T17:40:47","slug":"procedures-and-administration","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/irbinsider\/procedures-and-administration\/","title":{"rendered":"Procedures and Administration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The procedures of the University of Richmond IRB are spelled out in detail in the <a href=\"http:\/\/irb.richmond.edu\/policies-resources\/policy-guide.html\">UR IRB Policy Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In brief, researchers will send proposals to <a href=\"mailto:irb@richmond.edu\">irb@richmond.edu<\/a> .\u00a0 The Chair will make an initial determination as to whether the proposal can be acted on by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/ohrp\/regulations-and-policy\/guidance\/guidance-on-expedited-review-procedures\/\">expedited review<\/a> or if it must be reviewed by the convened board.\u00a0 The Chair will make his determination largely based on OHRP&#8217;s published list of OHRP Expedited Review Categories (1998).\u00a0 This OHRP guidance specifies &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/ohrp\/regulations-and-policy\/guidance\/categories-of-research-expedited-review-procedure-1998\/\">Categories of Research That May Be Reviewed by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) through an Expedited Review Procedure<\/a>&#8220;.\u00a0 If the Chair is in doubt as to whether or not a proposal can be reviewed using the expedited process, he or she will usually put the proposal on the agenda of the convened IRB.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The procedures of the University of Richmond IRB are spelled out in detail in the UR IRB Policy Guide.
