Today, Syria remains an ever pressing issue on the minds of many.\u00a0 Syrian refugees continue to pour into Europe by the thousands, leaving the European Union in chaos.\u00a0 Russia continues to support the Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad.The Syrian Civil War appears never ending, as there is thought to be little hope or resolution.\u00a0 The Arab Spring protests initially prompted the revolt, rebels demanded for Assad’s resignation.\u00a0 Civil War erupted at Assad’s refusal to resign.\u00a0 Since then, the death toll is thought to be at least 220,000.\u00a0 Overtime, the Islamic State and jihadists presence has grown ever stronger, worrying other nations.<\/p>\n

With that being said, UK Prime Minister, David Cameron, attends the United Nations on Sunday hoping to end Syria’s Civil War by deal.\u00a0 The UN Summit is to be held in New York.\u00a0 Cameron\u00a0 argues that Assad would need to step down as president, but not immediately.\u00a0 Assad could continue as president, during a time of transition for the Syrian government.\u00a0 Although Cameron has no specific time frame, he remains hopeful of long-term peace for Syria.<\/p>\n

The Migrant Crisis in Europe continues to place pressure on Cameron, as he is criticized for is lack of action.\u00a0 However, Cameron states, that the UK’s multi billion-pound overseas aide program provides, “life-saving support” to millions to Syrian refugees. The UK aid’s payment is currently 12bn euros, however with Cameron’s support,\u00a0 a bill has been passed to increase 0.7% GDP every year in overseas aid.\u00a0 Cameron intends to take 20,000 Syrian refugees by 2020.<\/p>\n

Although the future is not known, a talk of a deal seems likely seriously discuss the ending of the Syrian Civil War. The civil war has has roughly lasted for four years and six months.\u00a0 US president Barack Obama and Russian president Vladimir Putin will also attend the United Nations, bringing arguably, three of the most powerful world leads together.<\/p>\n
