Mother Teresa was certainly a fascinating figure– not without controversy still, but her devotion to helping people on such a grand scale must be admired. Not many people would join the poor to help them. It would seem counter-intuitive– you can’t be much help if you’re begging for food yourself. Yet, ultimately, she inspired so many to do good in their own lives that she built an army of do-gooders and changed the lives of millions.
I was particularly struck by this quote: "It is important that everyone is seen as equal before God. I've always said we should help a Hindu become a better Hindu, a Muslim become a better Muslim, a Catholic become a better Catholic." This sentiment would also serve as worthy inspiration.
Words can not even come close to describe the greatness of Mother Teresa’s incredible deeds and actions. Her selflessness to help other people in need is absolutely inspirational. Amongst other traits, her love and compassion for all solidifies her as a true hero. Because of her persona and her compassionate deeds, I try to live my life just like her own. She stimulates a change of character and that is truly extraordinary, making her one of the most outstanding individuals of all time.
It is safe to say that Mother Teresa is one of the most selfless, caring, and inspirational women who every lived. She devoted her entire life to helping those less fortunate than herself and will forever be remembered for that. Compassion practically oozed out of her; never turning down a person in need. She is truly an inspiration to us all. While no one will ever be able to be compared to Mother Teresa, if there were more people who modeled her actions and beliefs throughout their lives, the world would definitely be a better place.
I am not surprised that Mother Teresa’s name came to the mind of the participants when the word selflessness was presented. Mother Teresa is the epitome of a selfless person. It is amazing that this woman was able to ascend from a beggar on the street to one of the most revered individuals in history. I attended Catholic elementary school and high school, so I have heard Mother Teresa’s story many times, yet it never loses its significance.
