I thought this chapter was very relevant to us, as students, because it discusses the effects of stress, careers, and success. The two previous chapters involved divorce, which was interesting, but most likely doesn’t relate to us at this time in our lives.
It’s important to work hard, overcome obstacles, and not be feared by potential stress. The Termin subjects who faced a lot of adversity in life, did not necessarily live shorter lives because of it. In fact, staying engaged and productive are guideposts to a long, healthy life.
This chapter relates to my mom’s work ethic, but not necessarily in a professional career setting. My mom was diagnosed with MS in her 20’s but she has not let that affect how she chooses to live her life. My mom still works really hard and stays involved while overcoming many obstacles. By not allowing this diagnosis to overtake her life, she believes she has slowed down the progression of these disease while also serving as a role model for me and my brothers.
