{"id":1318,"date":"2014-04-21T22:50:10","date_gmt":"2014-04-22T02:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/geog250\/?p=1318"},"modified":"2016-01-27T12:03:29","modified_gmt":"2016-01-27T16:03:29","slug":"geographyandart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/geog250\/2014\/04\/21\/geographyandart\/","title":{"rendered":"Combining Geography and Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In science, findings and knowledge are usually spread through papers and reports that are usually contained within the scientific community. <a title=\"Terrain.org\" href=\"http:\/\/www.terrain.org\" target=\"_blank\">Terrain.org<\/a>\u00a0is an online journal that\u00a0helps ordinary people, environment enthusiasts, and experts spread their thoughts and findings through a very different channel: art.<\/p>\n<p>On Terrain you can find literary art like poems and prose; you can find visual art like photographs and videos; or you can read informational pieces through nonfiction work, columns, interviews, and articles about urban centers. Terrain tries to connect the physical and natural environment to the built and human environment. Readers and viewers can really gain insight on issues involving these two contrasting realms. Terrain says that &#8220;the works contained within\u00a0<em>Terrain.org<\/em>\u00a0ultimately examine the physical realm around us, and how those environments influence us and each other physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Although the works are more personal pieces and not based on experimental findings, all topics pertain to either environmental\/geographical issues or an individuals personal feelings on the topic.
