{"id":150,"date":"2016-04-26T16:06:36","date_gmt":"2016-04-26T20:06:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/fysutopiasspring2016012\/?page_id=150"},"modified":"2016-04-26T16:28:35","modified_gmt":"2016-04-26T20:28:35","slug":"findings-from-researching-utopian-disconnect","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/fysutopiasspring2016012\/research\/problems-of-utopia\/findings-from-researching-utopian-disconnect\/","title":{"rendered":"Utopian Disconnect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Icaria, a utopia born from dreams of equality and resolution of conflict, contained high-minded ideals and sought to develop perfection for mankind.\u00a0 Cabet\u2019s writings placed him at the center of the community as he believed that providing a system of communal living would \u201cput an end to all disorders, all vices\u2026and will assure the most perfect public order.\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> But despite the leadership\u2019s and the community\u2019s best intentions, they were unable to achieve such lofty goals.\u00a0 Human nature created the main barrier as a disconnect between Cabet\u2019s teachings and the implementation of the ideals brought societal vices to the forefront of the community\u2019s struggles.
