Please also consider this resource on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/facdevblog.niu.edu\/onlinecheating\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">preserving academic integrity in online assessments<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a blog post with options to help <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidehighered.com\/blogs\/university-venus\/student-agency-uncertain-times\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">reduce pressure and anxiety for students<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We have also evaluated a number of different online exam proctoring tools, and consulted with other institutions that have either used or evaluated these tools. The listing of tools we considered includes <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ProctorU<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Respondus<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Examity<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">HonorLock<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Proctorio<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Proctorfree<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ProctorTrack<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. In all cases, our research shows that such tools are ineffective, expensive, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/technology\/2020\/04\/01\/online-proctoring-college-exams-coronavirus\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">raise student privacy issues<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, undermine our Honor Code and can be <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">off-putting to students<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Because of these reasons, some schools have adopted <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.lehigh.edu\/news\/31920-policy-on-online-exam-proctoring\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">policies<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> asking faculty to not use such tools. While UR is not taking this approach, we are cognizant that students and faculty are all working under very unusual circumstances and these tools may not be especially well-suited at this time.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">However, to support those for whom alternative assessment options are not an option, we are considering the possibility of purchasing a small number of proctoring services.
